Although the risks are very minimal it is always good to know in this day of infection fears! I take the greatest of care with cleanliness. I dispose of wax, spatulas and paper (which covers couch) after each client. I wear a new pair of gloves for each client. My equipment and bottles, tubes etc are wiped down between clients with disinfectant. You could help by ensuring you have cleaned the area you are going to have waxed, prior to coming. |
I will, however, still cleanse the area with surgical spirits to keep infection of pores to a minimum. Because you should not bath or shower immediately after waxing, if you are prone to perspiration try to keep in clean loose clothes and limit any activity which may irritate the area, this includes picking at ingrown hairs! When waxing intimate areas I use hot wax and have a small pot from which I work and only melt enough wax for each clients treatment and anything remaining is disposed of. |
For larger areas where the warm wax and strips are used, I use roller bottles to reduce the risk of any infections should this be a worry. My small tools like scissors and tweezers are wiped with surgical spirits and then put into a UV steriliser and my towels and flannels are washed at 90deg. The IPL cleanliness with IPL treatments is much the same only the head used and goggles are cleaned with surgical spirits after use. |
