Hot Wax
Hot wax was originally a mixture of beeswax and resin which would set and then be removed by flicking and pulling without the need for a strip. New ingredients make this particular wax even more pliable and less likely to stick to the skin, ensuring a far less painful experience with no lasting discomfort compared to wax removed with strips. This is my chosen wax and technique for all sensitive areas.
Hair in waxed areas re-grows lighter and more sparse and slower. After your first wax, the results can last 4 to 6 weeks depending on the individual's hair re-growth. In most cases, hair growth is minimal during the first week or two and noticeably increases in the third and fourth week at which point you should be thinking of making another appointment. Failure to do so will only make your hairs longer and the next session will not be easier than the first.
Your body adjusts with continued waxing so each session becomes less painful and is finished more rapidly. Heat stimulates hair growth, therefore hair grows quicker in the summer than in the winter.
With regular waxing the length of time between treatments will increase. Re-growth will be finer, thinner and slower. Eventually, hair growth may stop - this will take some time though depending on the density of the hair.
If you are looking for a whole body wax, it can take up to three hours or more. The after effect of waxing can be red and pimply rash, so have it done at least 3 days before any hot date. Each visit becomes easier, and you'll learn to turn the trip to the beauty clinic into something to actually look forward to!
I aim to provide a friendly and relaxed environment without a daunting receptionist and peach decor.
These treatments are performed in a hygienic non-sexual environment. I will always do my best to accommodate all clients needs and times, by adapting working hours to your needs. By all means bring your own music and for waxing of the more sensitive areas I recommend two strong pain killers half hour before you arrive. I say this because people have varying pain thresholds and it is just a precaution. Ladies coming for Brazilian and full bikini I recommend NOT coming whilst you are menstruating or in the few days leading up to this time as it is a very sensitive time where all feelings are heightened.
Do not come for a wax if you are extremely hung over, generally the body is then dehydrated and the pores tend to be tighter. I therefore also advise that even if not hung over to ensure that you are not dehydrated anyway.

I am extremely flexible so be sure to drop me an e-mail should you want to request something that might not appear on the pricelist, though I think I have covered most areas that are safe to be waxed.
If you are under the age of 16 you will need to be accompanied by an parent/gaurdian. So if you think you might look younger please bring id with you.
Risks
Some Medical Practitioners do not recommend waxing for persons suffering from diabetes or who have varicose veins or poor circulation as they are more susceptible to infection. A patch test could be done to ensure safety or
a consultation with your GP might be an idea.
Waxing is never done on clients taking Accutan and is not recommended for clients taking Retin A, Renova, Differin or other types of skin thinning acne medications. Please read the label carefully and consult your dermatologist if you are taking any medication or using any topical cream that contains these medications. Individuals do react differently to these medications and sometimes waxing can be done if proper patch testing is completed.
Also, please advise your aesthetician if you are allergic to any foods - because if you can't eat it, you shouldn't put the extracts on your skin. Be completely honest with your Beauty Therapist about all allergies and medications you are taking - it is for your protection.
Aftercare and side effects
Most do not experience reactions beyond redness and minor irritation. Hair may break at the root during waxing, causing some hairs to grow out faster.
Avoid the sun immediately after waxing and please wear sun screen; recently waxed areas are prone to hyper pigmentation (permanent darkening of the skin) if exposed to the sun.
Avoid heavy exercise for at least 24 hours after waxing. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools and other heated sources for at least 48 hours. Do not use exfoliating products, body brush or a loofah for at least 24 hours after waxing.
Avoid tight clothing after waxing, especially in the waxed areas. Tight clothing may result in irritation and ingrown hairs.
Regular exfoliation may be helpful especially on leg and arm areas.
Routine waxing helps the skin get accustomed to the procedure and may minimize irritation Unfortunately, no shower or oral sex for 10 hours after a Brazilian, sac 'n crack or full monty. All areas of the body that have been waxed should be cleaned with a body brush on a daily basis and moisturised to keep the skin vibrant and moisturised and minimise ingrown hairs. I highly recommend body brushes over loofah's to cope with ingrown hairs.
